Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT500)
Yoga Alliance 200-hour & 300-hour School (200RYS & 300RYS)

At age 17 I left my native Sweden to travel the world and it did not take long to fall in love with Asia, its culture and intriguing spiritual traditions. Yoga first came to me in 1981 when I began going to 14-day retreats at the Scandinavian Yoga & Meditation School, linage of Satyananda Bihar School. After many years of practicing classical hatha yoga I made a move to the USA where a whole range of approaches were available. I trained with as many gifted amazing teachers as I could find and received certificates styles inlcluding Kripalu Yoga, Integrative Yoga Therapy, Ashtanga Vinyasa and after meeting John Friend in 1999 – Anusara Yoga became the backbone for my practice and teaching.

I operate Shantaya Yoga School based in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where we offer 200-hour & 300-hour YTT Programs registered with both Anusara and Yoga Alliance (RYS 200 & 300). Living in Thailand I have also been one of the pioneers in spreading the Thai healing tradition through a Thai Yoga Therapy Certification program created in USA in 1998. Thousands of people have since then experienced this wonderful fusion of bodywork, yoga and therapeutics that has kept me diving deeper into hands-on healing work in both private sessions and teaching.

Another key foundation is a degree in physiotherapy which has been such a helpful platform for an informed, scientific, biomechanical approach to what I do. I decided to pause my clinical physiotherapy practice many years ago to pursue a full-time presence in yoga and bodywork – yet everything I do is supported by numerous aspects of physiotherapy.

To me, it’s the marriage of the eastern tantric perspective with the western scientific approach that give rise to powerful and effective teaching. As a Certified Anusara Teacher Trainer some main areas of my expertise include structural and functional anatomy, gross and subtle alignment, hands-on therapeutics and adjustments – but I certainly also enjoy teaching other topics outlined in the 300-hour Advanced Anusara Teacher Training curriculum. Most of my teaching takes place in Asia so if you are not already here find an excuse to come visit!

“After thirty-five years in the holistic field I’m happy to share my path with yours”.
