OVERVIEW OF THE NOMINATIONS PROCESS

The Anusara School of Hatha Yoga’s Board of Directors is seeking nominations for five (5) new Directors for the Board starting January 1, 2020.

How does someone get nominated to serve on the Board?

You may nominate yourself or someone you know who loves Anusara yoga and wants to contribute to the School by serving on the Board of Directors. It is a wonderful way to make your voice heard, serve in a leadership role and learn about many interesting areas related to the governance of an international nonprofit yoga school!

When is the deadline to apply?

The deadline to apply is Sunday, July 14, 2019.

Who decides who is selected?

New Directors will be recommended to the current Board of Directors by the Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee includes Board members Alex Biondo (USA), Benjamin Finnerty (Asia), Letizzia Wastavino (Europe) and Operations Team Coordinator Kim Friedman (USA).

The Nominating Committee will be looking for diversity of geographic representation and mix of skills.

The current Board of Directors will make the final decisions.

What does the Board of Directors do?

The Board plays a very important role in determining the School’s future. It is responsible for:

  • Ensuring the School’s financial sustainability through fundraising and stewardship of the School’s resources;
  • Setting guiding principles and policies;
  • Hiring and providing oversight of the Operations Team Coordinator.

To carry out its work and support the Operations Team (staff), the Board has three standing committees:

  • Fundraising
  • Policy
  • Marketing

New Directors will be asked to serve on at least one of these committees depending on their their skills and preferences.

What can you expect as a Board member?

New Directors will serve a three-year term starting January 1, 2020. Through your work on the Board, you will have a unique opportunity to work together with the Operations Team (staff), other Anusara teachers, students and friends to help the global Anusara community grow and flourish.

A typical month requires approximately 8 – 10 hours of work:

  • A monthly Board meeting (2 hours)
  • 1-2 Committee meetings per month (1-2 hours/meeting)
  • 4 hours of project-based Committee work between meetings

What does the Board need in terms of specific skills?

The Board seeks people with skills in marketing and fundraising in particular. However, anyone with a passion for collaboration, innovation, excellence and a love of Anusara Yoga is invited to apply.
