COMMUNITY RESILIENCY PROGRAM
PROMOTING A COMMUNITY RESILIENT CULTURE
The Community Resiliency Program outlines how ASHY’s “Global to Local” community can create and maintain a conflict resilient organizational culture. Conflict resiliency is the ability to recover quickly when a conflict arises, and as such, creates a resilient community.
As explained in the Program document “conflict is simply the gap between what we want and what we are experiencing at any point in time. This gap generates energy because humans are highly motivated to close the gap because it isn’t comfortable. This emotional discomfort can motivate people to expend lots of energy.” (Source: Interview with Nate Regier, co-founding owner and chief executive officer of Next Element)
The Program is an acknowledgment that conflict is a natural and inevitable part of any vibrant community. When channeled effectively, conflict is a positive and transformative source of energy from which our community will continue to grow and evolve. ASHY’S CONFLICT RESOLUTION PROTOCOL
The Community Relations Team utilizes the following protocol as the primary tool to ensure the ASHY community has the support and skills needed to ensure harmonious relationships.
ASHY’s conflict resolution protocol begins with a self-inquiry process. Click here for the CRF Self-Inquiry form Individuals experiencing conflict are encouraged to try to resolve the conflict themselves. If that is not possible, they then submit a request for support to ASHY’s Community Relations Team (click here for the Request for support). Options for support include:
- Conversation: People talk to reach shared understandings and (hopefully) commit to action.
- Feedback: Observations to guidance in reflection (hopefully) create commitment to action.
- Conflict Coaching: A third party helps to develop insights and clarity around resolving disputes and conflicts.
- Facilitation: A third party helps a group to achieve a collective goal.
- Mediation: A third party helps to find mutual understanding and optimal action.
