We chatted with our mentor Laura Dulcey about her experience with Anusara and why she decided to become an Anusara mentor!

Tell us a little about yourself

Hi, I’m Laura Dulcey, Certified Anusara Yoga Teacher from Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Anusara came into my life in 2008 by the hand of my teacher and friend, Benita Wolfe Galvan and from the first class I felt a strong transformation inside and outside the yoga mat.

That deep transformation and that yearning to create and share in the community motivated me to found my yoga studio, Anahata Yoga School, and to become actively involved in society by sharing the benefits of the practice.

Today I share my time between my love for my family, my husband Daniel, my 10 month old son Leon and my pets along with the love I have for sharing these wonderful teachings with all my students.

Why did you choose to become a Mentor?

I decided to become a mentor to give back all that Anusara and my teachers have brought to my life and to be able to help all the people who are on their professional development path today.

As a teacher who has gone through the same processes I am aware of the possible doubts, difficulties and the importance of guidance when advancing through the Anusara path.

Tell us about your Mentoring Session.

One of the key elements of the Anusara Yoga methodology is to teach through observation. Observational teaching allows us as teachers to remain present, in an attitude of service and open to the possibilities of movement that the student can deploy.

Anusara Touch is oriented to refine and deepen the way to observe and perform manual adjustments and assist in classes.

You will need to have a partner to practice with so I recommend that you take this opportunity to meet with other teachers in your community or ask a student to join you on this journey.

What is your inspiring message for our members?

The highest purposes of the practice are Chit – Ananda, take the opportunity of these mentoring sessions to remember and recognize the potential that you are and then celebrate that potential in classes with your students.
