Yoga Bio

Since 1999, Tasha has offered Hatha Yoga in the Berkshires, Massachusetts. Her classes combine breath based movement, mindful alignment within poses, and intelligent sequencing to support the optimal unfolding of each individual. As she guides her students to practice with heartfelt expression and finely tuned alignment, she encourages each one to enter into their own independent, revelatory relationship with life.

Tasha began her yoga asana practice in 1980, cycling the hills of Pittsburgh to get to class. After graduating from Wesleyan University in Asian Studies, she taught secondary social studies for nine years and earned her M.Ed from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, providing a student centered grounding in pedagogy. In 2001 she completed a two-year Introductory Teacher Training in Iyengar Yoga with Patricia Walden. Subsequently she took another 200-hour, Anusara Yoga Teacher Training in New York City and became Certified in this method in 2007.

She has been offering yoga full time since 2003 and is currently the Founder/Director of Tasha Yoga studio in Williamstown, MA where she had lead teacher trainings and hosted workshops. In 2016 she became an Authorized Teacher of Neelakantha Meditation as taught in Blue Throat Yoga, and has taught study courses for this meditation school. Tasha became certified with the International Association of Yoga Therapists in 2017. She has travelled to India on multiple occasions including leading trips to Chidambaram Temple in Tamil Nadu.

Seeking always to inspire her practice and teaching of yoga through love and a practical grounding in the ecstatic reality of being, she is deeply grateful for the influential guidance of her teachers and for the presence of nature and animals in her life. When not on the yoga mat, she is likely curled up with a cat or at the horse farm in the company of adopted bay Thoroughbred Rolan learning dressage.

The Elegant System of Alignment Principles
Creative Possibilities Grounded in Systematic Knowledge
Teachings for the Entire Person – Body, Mind and Heart – with Multiple Starting Points

Why do you teach Anusara yoga?

I began practicing Anusara yoga out of appreciation for its way of teaching meeting me at so many different levels. It was food for my mind, brought greater ease and intelligence to my body, and supported my journey into emotional competency. Sometimes I found myself transported into beautiful states which left nourishing and uplifting impressions on me. I teach Anusara Yoga to continue to learn and deepen on the path of yoga. It offers me the tools to meet students where they are, support them on their journey, and empower students to discover their own direct access to the divine within.

Why do you license with Anusara?

Licensing with Anusara reflects my background and training to help people understand that I am not self-arisen as a yogi or teacher but have benefitted from being educated and trained by others. It indicates my orientation to a life-affirming approach to embodiment that I aspire to convey in my teaching.
