Yoga Bio

I was introduced to Anusara yoga in June of 2003 at the insistence of my good friend, Peter Goodman, and from the moment I heard the beauty of the opening invocation, I knew I was home. I began my teacher training with Deb Neubauer, in January of 2004, and completed the year long 200 hour program. My deep interest in the elegant Tantric philosophy of Anusara Yoga has inspired my studies with Dr. Douglas Brooks, Dr. Manoj Chalam, and Dr. William Mahony. I was awarded my Anusara Certificate in March of 2014. My specific areas of interest are the therapeutic applications of Anusara’s Universal Principles of Alignment™ and the exploration of the spiritual and philosophical foundations of this yoga.

I was honored to of serve as a founding member of the Anusara School of Hatha Yoga from 2012 – 2016, and am so proud to be part of this dynamic and vibrant community. It’s gratifying to see that this empowering practice is growing throughout the world. I am currently a Master’s candidate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Goddard College and have been incorporating my academic learning into my teaching, particularly in areas of traumatic stress, depression, anxiety, and chronic pain.

In addition to practicing and teaching, I enjoy the radical beauty of the island of Martha’s Vineyard with my husband, Jeremy. I love cooking, beaching combing, exploring the island’s extensive network of trails with canine companion Jemma, attending to my little black cat Kali’s every whim, and connecting with my Anusara kula friends from all over the world at workshops, trainings, and on the web.

What do you love most about Anusara Yoga?

Anusara Yoga taught me first, look for something good. The word “first” is important. Opening to grace is not a passive experience – it’s a call to action, but action informed by the recognition of the intrinsic value of my own being or the beauty of the world around me. This has served me more off the mat than it has on the mat!

Why do you teach Anusara yoga?

I teach Anusara Yoga because I want to provide others with the opportunity to experience the joy it brought to my life – relief of physical pain, the camaraderie of the kula, and the sheer fun of learning to do amazing things with a middle-aged body!

Why do you license with Anusara?

My training and experience is valuable. My certification and license reflect my commitment and knowledge, as well as the acknowledgement of my peers that I have achieved a high level of expertise in my field.
