Yoga Bio

Jane has been a professional Yoga teacher for about 30 years. Her initial interest was in the purely physical practice and she undertook a 4 year teacher training apprenticeship in the Iyengar style of yoga. Jane was a regular student at the Iyengar Institute in Pune, India and those years taught her the discipline, focus and commitment to practice that continue to support her today.
Jane discovered Anusara Yoga at the Shree Muktananda Yoga Ashram in New York in 2000 and she was awed by its power to motivate, inspire and encourage her. The dormant yearning to express the beauty of Yoga practice came alive and she quickly found Anusara Yoga to be the most inspiring and motivating way to connect with all that is important to her – health, wellbeing, creativity, joy and spirit. Jane’s students love her capacity to communicate ways to navigate the path to this place of grace.
Jane currently has a studio space in Marrickville, Sydney where she teaches a regular timetable of classes to students from beginners to those who have been studying with her for decades. She also runs a busy private practice. She conducts classes in the studio, online and in a student’s workplace or home.
Jane is trained and experienced in yoga therapy, meditation, pre- and post- natal and yoga for people dealing with serious illness. She has a particular interest in helping people with back pain. For the past two years Jane has engaged in continuing teacher training in Accessible Yoga for people with brain and spinal cord injury.
Jane’s students report how they enjoy feeling both challenged and safe, inspired and calm, motivated and confident.
Jane loves guiding her students to find how the Anusara alignment principles connect in their own bodies to strengthen, lengthen, balance and delight!

What do you love most about Anusara Yoga?

I love Anusara Yoga because it’s offers a clear and accurate path to the heart. The physical alignments flow with grace and awaken the body’s intelligence and make connection to the cosmic realms easy and real.

Why do you teach Anusara yoga?

Teaching Anusara Yoga is a privilege. While life’s chaos has slowed my progress to certification, my study continues and certification is no longer important for me. What is important is my own expression of what I love. I have always been a teacher – first in primary schools, then computers in the 80s and then I found yoga. It was an obvious progression and, while I would not have been surprised if I had moved on to teaching something else, nothing beats yoga. We are a perfect match.

Why do you license with Anusara?

Anusara Yoga is a perfect teaching method for me, and I love how everyone in the kula has kept it going all these years.
