Yoga Bio

Nancy believes that great teaching is grounded in having a strong sadhana (practice). And, that to respect our bodies and how they are constantly changing is essential. She uses her daily practice as a learning laboratory and only teaches what she knows and can understand in her own body. The gift and the art of teaching for Nancy comes across as she articulates this to others with healthy, integrated movement patterns that work to help students create optimal alignment in their own bodies.

Nancy’s primary motivation in teaching yoga is to give back. She believes that self-love and learning how to trust yourself is everything in yoga and in life. Without this as a foundation, the risk of relying on external sources becomes addictive. And, when that outside source is no longer available or dries up, it’s too easy to get pulled downward in an Alice in Wonderland kind of way. Yoga is about learning to open to our innate, internal upward spiral – one that is inextricably connected to the Divine, and is bountiful, and constant. Providing this kind of internal attention and self-care has everything to do with how we extend that to others and the world: We must learn to love and honor ourselves first.
Nancy’s class pacing is slow, steady and mindful. She skillfully weaves alignment-based, stair-stepped instruction with breath and an emphasis toward graceful and seamless transitions. With Nancy, you’ll get a full-spectrum practice and be nudged toward your growth edge creating a healthy challenge that you get to calibrate. Nancy creates a learning environment that inspires and is welcoming and supportive. You’ll leave her classes uplifted, and grounded.
She has been a dedicated and passionate yoga practitioner since 2000 and a teacher since 2007. In 2011 Nancy opened Nourish Yoga in Moscow, Idaho where she was studio co-owner, director and lead teacher for over five years helping create a vibrant community that continues today (now called Kula Yoga). Over the years Nancy has completed numerous immersions and teacher trainings and has been blessed to have trained with highly skilled and insightful teachers including Baron Baptiste, Tiffany Wood, Karen Sprute-Francovich, Christina Sell, Darren Rhodes, Jason Crandell and Noah Maze. Nancy received her first RYT 200 with Baron Baptiste; her second RYT 200 in the Anusara® School of Hatha Yoga lineage which she continues to study today; and her advanced teacher training (RYT 500) with Noah Maze in 2014 which super-charged everything. Nancy has also pursued specialized training in Prenatal, Restorative Yoga and recently in iRest Yoga Nidra (she is an iRest Teacher-in-Training).
